Halloween decor!
We have been a busy crew over the summer. We checked some major projects off of our list and I am about ready to hunker down and enjoy the heck out of fall and the holidays. Now that so many major projects are done I have been adding some furniture and style into these rooms, which I essentially designed to be blank canvases.
Actually .... soon we will have to entirely gut the guest/kids’ bathroom including the tile and the tub but I’m putting that out of my mind for a few months. That is going to be a LOT of work. For now I’m going to focus on fall and holiday decor.
I have been SO busy at the office lately that I have hardly had time to blog which is a shame because it is such a fun time of year! I LOVE decorating for fall and the holidays!
Incorporating fall coziness into life!
Let’s start upstairs! Yes. You should totally bring the mood upstairs or to wherever your bedrooms are. Decorating is not just for guests it is for YOU to enjoy your home! I found this cute throw pillow at Home Goods and it lives in my bedroom along with some other small pumpkin accouterments.
We LOVE Halloween movies. I like to play them Sunday nights and watch them as a family. Our all time favorite is of course, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! I got the kiddos pillow cases last year. It makes it so fun for them to have something special of their own to change with the seasons.
And how CUTE are they?!
Did you catch my mom hack about just buying fun and cute pillow cases? These sheet sets were too expensive for me to justify for Halloween so I just grabbed pillow cases.
You can see my sweet little Madeline’s here alone with her regular Frozen pillow cases. Like every girl in America she is ga-ga for Elsa, but even she will set Elsa aside for her beloved Great Pumpkin. Of course my girl is in Halloween jammies!
Downstairs is REALLY decorated. In the kitchen we have my favorite fall mugs from Pottery Barn.
Back by the ovens I just have a few things decorating the table and the ovens. I don’t like this area to be too cluttered since we use this table often. See those five little pumpkins back there? Madeline made those :)
Over in the dining room I decorated my new DIY sideboard/buffet (Ikea hack!) with some of my “nice” pumpkins. One is velvet that a friend of mine picked up in my new favorite color peacock blue, and the other is a faux pumpkin I bought at a craft store and monogrammed myself with a gold craft pen. I love that skull succulent planter! That was also a gift! People really know me well, don’t they?!
And just look at this. I could not help myself.
This guy is a new addition to our decor this year. I could not pass him up. How cute is Snoopy?! Advent calendar for Halloween? Yes, please! I found this at Pottery Barn Kids.
I added some pumpkin flair to the family room. I picked up that throw pillow cover from Pottery Barn last year. He looks pretty good next to all of my peacock blue and mid-century modern details!
Pumpkins are smiling at me in every room!
Another Great Pumpkin detail that I could not pass up. Another Pottery Barn Kids purchase. That catalog is dangerous!
My kiddos made this hanging garland out of some craft stuff that I picked up at Target. They love to participate and they get SO excited when they see their work on display.
I got these pumpkins a few years ago but you can find them in all colors just about anywhere. I love filling a big hurricane with seasonal details.
Late October in our neck of the woods means temperatures in the 30’s overnight. I don’t mind because I love a cozy fire!
It has really cooled off quite rapidly up here. It is the perfect chance to dust off some comfort food recipes. I made chili and my lemon garlic roast chicken in the past week or so. It’s nice when it’s warm enough that the grill is an option but it’s also SO AWESOME to come home to a cooked crock pot meal or something ready to pop into the oven!
And finally ...
Look at this sleepy puppy! We were a family in need of a dog. This sweet little boy, Ozzy, warms our home in a way I never realized that we needed. He loves snoozing on my pillows and he has made a “spot” right here with us in the evenings.
Terry does a little work and I have my snacks and or wine and he snoozes like he was worried about the mortgage payment all month. Bless this dog.
Happy Halloween, friends!
